How to install an IPTV player on Fire TV / Fire Stick with Downloader
Amazon's Fire TV Stick is one of the most popular devices for watching IPTV on a TV: it is cheap, has more than enough power for video and runs Android apps. Since many players are not in Amazon's store, the universal method — fully supported by the system — is to install the APK with the Downloader app. It takes 5 minutes; let's go step by step.
Step 1 — Install the Downloader app
On your Fire TV, go to the search icon and type “Downloader” (orange icon, by AFTVnews). It is free and lives in Amazon's official store. Install it like any other app.
Step 2 — Allow unknown apps
- Open Settings → My Fire TV (or “Device”).
- Go into Developer options. If it does not show up, go to “About”, select the device name and press the centre button 7 times to enable it.
- Under Install unknown apps, turn the permission on for Downloader.
Is it safe?
Yes: you are only allowing Downloader to install APKs, just as you would on an Android phone. Always download APKs from the developer's official website and be wary of third-party sites that repackage apps.
Step 3 — Download and install the APK
- Open Downloader.
- In the address field, type the player's official URL. For Kraid IPTV:
kraidiptv.com/kraidiptv.apk. You can also type the Downloader code6102502. - Press “Go”: the APK downloads and the system asks whether you want to install it. Accept.
- When it finishes, choose “Open” or find the app in your apps list. You can delete the downloaded file when Downloader offers to.
Step 4 — Set up your playlist and you're done
Open the player and add your content source: an M3U playlist (URL) or your Xtream Codes account, both from your provider. If it is your first time, we explain the difference in M3U or Xtream Codes: which to choose.
With the Fire TV remote you can browse categories, search channels, mark favourites and open the EPG guide. In Kraid, zapping also drops below one second and 4K HEVC channels are decoded in hardware.
Quick questions
Does it work on every Fire TV model?
Yes on Fire TV Stick, Stick 4K/4K Max, Cube and Fire TV televisions based on Android/Fire OS. The newest models running Vega OS (late 2025 onwards) do not run Android APKs.
Do I have to repeat this for every update?
You only need to enter the URL in Downloader again when there is a new version: the installation updates in place without losing your playlists or settings.
What about Android TV or Google TV (TCL, Sony, Philips…)?
The process is equivalent: same APK, using Downloader or any file manager, after enabling “install unknown apps” in the TV settings.
